    EARLY AMERICAN ENGRAVINGS
YOU ARE LOOKING AT AN EARLY AMERICAN ENGRAVING. Engravings of this type were used in publications of the time before photographic images were used in printed. This allowed the reader to have a better understanding of the content of the book. After the print was made COLOR WAS ADDED to the engraving by hand. If you look at the scan you will find that the color does conform to the actual drawn lines.
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This antique engraving would matt and frame very nicely. This item can be made into a wonderful antique art display. There is sufficient margin around the engraving to allow proper matting. The paper has browned slightly with age and may have some stained areas, but is in good condition.  Slight impression of printed page on reverse side of drawing. With proper care it will last another lifetime. You may note the condition of this historic antique engraving in the scan that accompanies this auction. The engraving comes from an old book describing the Indian Nations of the United States and South America.
    If you purchase this item,
I will send you jpg images of the title page, a list of important events in the history of Indians in America and a list showing the population of various tribes in the Eastern and Southern United States at the time the book was written.
