  • 1960’s Oxford 8J4S-7 PAIR 8″ Full Range Guitar Speaker
Several pairs of these are available – see other listings for variations. Great sounding 8″ guitar speaker model from Oxford Transducer – made in USA. Same/similar to drivers used in 1960’s Fender sound columns and others of the era. This is an 8 ohm model with cone W311 installed around 1971, original cone was P4255. Each speaker has been inspected and tested and function as expected with no mechanical or electrical defects noted.
Now a short story… Some time around 1967 these drivers were used in a pair of 6×8 guitar columns custom built by J. B.Labs of Akron, Ohio, a division of Commercial Communications in NW Ohio, for use by the group “The Outsiders” during the period before and after the group’s top 5 hit song “Time Won’t Let Me”. They remained in use into the 1970’s and eventually ended up moving between basements in the Cleveland Ohio area. There were various repairs done to the cabinets and drivers over time and ended up with three types of drivers – these being the original drivers with cones replaced around 1971. The 6×8’s match up well with the heavily R&B influenced garage band rock sound of The Outsiders
These units are in very good used condition – intact and undamaged, tested for sound and performance and all as expected. Please
